H.L. I discovered this lively album in advance of our November holiday. As always, I prepared some "soft" but honest albums for the road and "Grow" turned out to be one of the favourites. Rose's smooth vocals fit very well to the catchy soft rock or grunge light anthems. "Elevate", "The Lines" or "Election Song" are three of the album's hits. Favorite track: The Lines.

Portobello Express (fan profile) I get crazy for this girl. Sixties, stoner, old school rock, loads of guit riffs, heavy bass lines. Superlative songwriting. Don't try to imitate her, she's too good! Favorite track: Elevate.

Elevate 03:06
Open my eyes today I'm ready to be awake Shadows on the wall Today I'm gonna watch them fall The lights that blind me and you, greenish, yellow and blue Running out of the cave Static all over the place Airplanes in my mind What if the tarot cards were right? When the machines lie to you, you don't know what to do This is when I went astray, this is how I lost my way How can I be present in this world and elevate? I wanna see within Experience everything Explode in all directions I'm a compass starting to spin When all your heroes fall through, you grasp for something new This is when I went astray, this is how I lost my way How can I be present in this world and elevate? It's gonna be a pretty day
2.
Frozen 05:22
Check this switch one more time and then I'm gonna go (it's time to go) Repeat the action sixteen times and no one knows (what's wrong here?) I've looked so long by now that I can't see the light (where are you?) And suddenly i'm gone, exempt from doing right (where have I gone?) Move now, walk out, breathe in, I'm frozen Numb to the outside, inside muscle turns to stone Am I still here? The lights are off but I'm still home Inside the eye of yet another morning storm (good morning) Dissociate- the only exit that ever forms (take shelter) Trying to grab the root, my feeling are offline (they say you need 'em) Touch dial to override, my senses turn to lies (the grounding fails) Move now (you think you're trying to...) Walk out (spare yourself...) Breathe in (from all of the...) I'm frozen (sad things that you're scared of feeling?) How can i see the person I can be? Melt this water, a pond in summer I am more than this

The Lines 03:48
There is no guidance in this place, oh my god No one to tell us what to do, that's why life’s hard There is no beauty in this place, and i just wanna hide my face, It's all so... Wrestling questions all day long, hide this song It's so easy to have an ego, is that why it's wrong? There's no compassion in this place, tears are running down my face You and me, we will see, and take it all the way down You and me, be complete, and take it all the way down The words are different in each book, I try to find What you said and who you were, a man-made crime So i just read between the lines, all this “seek and you shall find,” I'm praying... Breathing slow, eyes are closed Shake me, someone Please wake me up from this strange, strange sleep Won't someone wake me up from this strange, strange sleep? You and me, we will see, and take it all the way down You and me, be complete, and take it all the way down
4.
Smoke 04:44
Now that the smoke's clear, now that your scent is gone The red things have cleared, but I don't know what went wrong I've never seen anything like this- anything like this And then I set you down, but I never let you down Now that the smoke's clear, how I will never be And I set you down, but I never let you down When I'm awake and dream of you I fall so hard I can't get up When I'm awake and see you there I close my eyes and die There's many things I wanna say but I can't say There's many things I wanna do but I can't do
5.
Did you see the people dancing On the streets in the city? If we could all come together How much better this world would be I was born in Pennsylvania It wasn't always easy But i'm just the same as anyone How much better this world could be Yeah, you gotta give it away We're all looking for a good life Can we still love when we disagree? 'Cause we're just the same as everyone How much better this world should be Are you gonna give it away? Now, put the struggle down, and give it away Now, as we hit the ground, take your love, and give it away Come on and give it away
6.
I walked around the corner so my mind wouldn't melt But I jumped into the water, I know its sad alone Sometimes when you want something too much, you really don't want it enough Sometimes it's just so hard to get out of bed alone When the day goes on and on, you just need a hand to hold So I died of an unused heart, it's just so black alone The world shut down and we weren't told, believe me I know I can't find my yellow balloons, so sad to be alone
7.
Mermaids 04:40
Afraid of love, afraid of life Tears fill my monastery Mermaids dictate the new aesthetic With words as cold as iron and green skin Something about redemption Something about the mind vs. the... Sometimes mermaids sing, voices like a glass bell That swallows my mind Sometimes I jump into the sea Sometimes they're swimming there with me Lecturing about the weight of the mind and the heart At times the sea burns Leaving nothing but purple ashes With a mind of hot coals At times I find good in the world Mermaids organize the new revolution Reflexive movements and black hair Something about compassion Something about the weight of the mind and... Sometimes mermaids sing, voices like a glass bell That swallows my mind Sometimes I jump into the sea Sometimes they're swimming there with me Whispering about the difference between the weight of the mind and the heart God, how they fight Sometimes, late at night I never ever thought i'd learn to sing Try to hide them, can you feel them fight Raging inside of me Sometimes I jump into the sea Sometimes they're swimming there with me Mumbling about the difference in life between the weight of the mind, and all we can prove, and the heart

On the floor with the radio blaring Someone tell me what the fuck do to How did things end up this way, anyway? But I'm not still in love with you You let me down and I I hit the ground and I Swear that I'm not still in love with you Chemical repetitions Because the inside let the outside in The battleground is at the center of myself It's easier than to be near you again Too shell-shocked to cry and I Can't remember why and I Swear that I'm not still in love with you There's no coming around and no Resolution now and I Swear that I'm not still in love with you There's pixels in my head where blue Skies used to live and I Swear that I'm not holding onto you, I just Need another way to scare These ghosts away, it's just More than I can take, more than I can take So just Just take it away
9.
Grow 05:50
It's no win, you never let me in I've waited patiently outside your door It's in your head, the voices are saying it If you choose to listen, you choose to fall Grow The photographs we never took of us Showing our happiness or whatever you felt I've been trying to reach your gentle heart And all I get are sighs, and "I don't knows." Your walls are slowly, slowly weighing you down Get out before they bury you in the ground Grow I'm in your bed, lonely and sick of it You're off chasing things that bring you down Come out of your head and put down your narrative You can choose to listen or fight for your own fate Your walls are slowly, slowly dragging you down Take that voice and bury it in the ground And then grow Think about how it would feel to let go What if life was good and then we said so? You can believe in love and it might be ok. Remember all the times that we would laugh, though? I know it hurts, speaking with your head low. Let's make life everything we ever wanted. Grow

Come with me into the sea A song leaving, my soul sees me Water recedes, in fear on my knees The angry sea between the sky and me But I can change my dreams The waves will stop if i breathe I can change my dreams I can change my dreams
